Our Origin Story

Born from a Mother's Love and a Son's Sacrifice

In June 2016, Mary Henry organized a reunion for 23 of her son Eric's fellow soldiers — men who survived three combat deployments together, including the 2009 Battle of COP Keating where eight of their brothers were killed in action.

“The reunion was more beneficial than anything the VA can do with years of counseling.” — SFC Mike Bramstedt

What began as one mother's act of love became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2017. Today, RAW facilitates 5+ fully funded reunions per year — covering every cost so no veteran is left behind.Read the full story →

The Process

How We Bring Veterans Home to Each Other

Every reunion is fully funded — travel, lodging, meals, and programming — at no cost to the veteran.

01
Unit Nomination

Combat units — especially those who experienced loss in theater — are nominated by veterans, family, or VSO partners. Priority goes to units with KIA.

02
Full Planning & Funding

Our all-volunteer team coordinates flights, lodging, meals, and programming. Average cost: $1,500 per veteran. Entirely covered by donor support.

03
The Reunion

Brothers and sisters reunite — often for the first time in years. Healing begins. Bonds are rebuilt. The fallen are honored together.

Why It Matters

The Science and Soul Behind Veteran Reconnection

Combat bonding creates one of the most powerful forms of human connection — and its loss is a leading driver of veteran isolation and PTSD.

Shared grief over fallen comrades can only truly be processed with those who were there. Reunion provides that irreplaceable space.

Long-term peer support is the most effective protective factor against veteran suicide. Our reunions re-ignite those bonds for life.

5+ reunions per year — scaled, repeatable, measurable impact at $1,500 per veteran.
